The Orton-Gillingham Approach | 10-Day Course

June 10 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

$895 – $995

The Orton-Gillingham approach is a structured, systematic, multisensory, and diagnostic-prescriptive method for the teaching of language skills (including reading, spelling and handwriting) for students with dyslexia. This course will prepare educators to successfully tutor individual students, or to more effectively implement school-wide “packaged” multi-sensory, structured language education programs (such as Wilson, Patterns for Success, SPIRE, Phonics First, etc.). Course topics will include the characteristics and needs of students with dyslexia, the critical structures of English that must be addressed by instruction, and the design, implementation and evaluation of effective individual lesson plans. Presentations will be through lectures, discussions, demonstrations, videos, and “hands-on” exercises with multi-sensory techniques and materials. This 60-hour introductory course will provide participants with an introduction to the basics of the Orton-Gillingham approach. Completion of this course can also prepare participants for the associate level of Orton-Gillingham Academy certification. Course dates will be 6/10-21/19 (10 days). A total of 60 contact hours will be awarded upon completion. Course materials are included in the cost of the training. Optional 4-semester hours of Ashland Credit available. (2-semester hours each week-at a cost of $498 each week) Lunch is on your own. Questions about the training? Contact: CyndiSchultz80@gmail.com
