Improving Reading Outcomes Through Goal Setting & Progress Monitoring/Increasing Early Literacy Outcomes Through an Assessment Audit

Presenter – Dr. Roland Good – President, Director of Research Analysis, and Associate Director of Research and Development for Dynamic Measurement Group and co-author of Acadience™ Reading (also published under the name DIBELS Next®)as well as earlier versions of the DIBELS® assessment. Dr. Good has led the program of research and development culminating in the Acadience™ Reading measurers. Description: 9-11:00am – “Improving Reading Outcomes Through Goal setting and Progress Monitoring” – Struggling readers need instruction that accelerates learning and closes the gap. Knowing typical and above typical growth rates is useful for selecting ambitious and attainable individual student progress monitoring goals. Goal setting, progress monitoring, and evaluating growth are essential elements of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support(MTSS). Lunch 11:15-12:30 (on your own) 12:45 – 2:45pm – “Increasing Early Literacy Outcomes Through an Assessment Audit” –An assessment audit can help districts identify the assessment functions for which they have duplication and where they have gaps. School personnel will learn the purposes of assessment, the characteristics of tools suited for each purpose, and the components of a comprehensive, efficient early literacy assessment system.
