Creating Cultures of Thinking | Book Study (Online)

June 21

$69 – $79

What constitutes an effective and powerful learning experience in the 21st century? As we examine the shifting terrain of education, it is essential to be responsive to complex social developments and to create learning experiences that are engaging and exciting for all learners. Creating Cultures of Thinking, written by leading Harvard researcher Ron Ritchhart, demystifies the process of creating dynamic learning communities by first identifying and then walking us through eight forces we must marshal to build strong group culture. Case studies, practical guidelines, self-assessments, and inquiry projects enable teachers and administrators to understand and shape powerful learning communities. The ESCCO is pleased to provide independent learning opportunities for individuals interested in expanding their knowledge, understanding, and practices related to these issues. This course is a one credit intensive book study designed for K-12 educators who are seeking graduate level courses for their professional development, license renewal and/or pay scale increases. Participants will need to purchase their own copy of Creating Cultures of Thinking: the 8 Forces We Must Master to Truly Transform Schools. The course is set-up in 6 assignments and will require 2-3 hours of course work for each assignment. Participants may work at their own pace as all work will be due by the end of the course. A certificate of completion for 15 contact hours in content will be available within a week after course completion. An optional 1-hour Ashland University credit option is available for an additional $249. Contact Sandy.Denney@escco.org or by phone at 614.542.4111 for further information. Course payment must be submitted in order to receive course access.
